Okra is a yummy vegetable that grows in warm weather. It’s part of the mallow family, which includes hibiscus and hollyhock. It’s packed  with antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties. Okra is easy to grow . You can even grow it in a pot on your balcony!

How to Grow Okra

Step 1: Choose a Good Spot

– Lots of sunlight: Okra needs direct sunlight for at least 6 hours a day.

– Good drainage: Make sure the soil drains well.

Step 2: Prepare the Soil

– Add compost: Mix in some compost to make the soil healthy.

– Check the pH: Okra likes soil that’s slightly acidic to neutral.

Step 3: Plant the Seeds

– Plant in spring: In most places, plant okra seeds in late spring.

– Plant 1 inch deep: Plant seeds 1 inch deep and 12-18 inches apart.

Step 4: Water and Care

– Keep it moist: Water okra regularly, but don’t overdo it.

– Provide support: Okra plants can get tall, so give them something to lean on.

Step 5: Feed the Plants

  • Give them fertilizer: When okra plants are 6 inches tall, give them some balanced fertilizer.

Step 6: Harvest

– Check for pods: Okra pods are ready when they’re 3-5 inches long.

– Pick them regularly: Pick okra pods often to help the plant make more.
